About CATO

The Cultural Association of Togolese of Ontario (CATO) is a community organization that was registered on March 3, 2000, in Toronto. It is a social, non-profit and non-political organization that aims to;

  • Bring together all Togolese in Ontario, as well as every person attached to the Togolese culture.
  • Maintain and promote Togolese culture in Ontario and in Canada as a whole.
  • Help and educate members in socio-economic, cultural and welfare activities.

To achieve that, CATO acts through;

  • The creation and implementation of programs and projects designed to contribute to members’ well-being.
  • The fostering and maintaining of strong and cooperative links with government agencies in Canada and Togo.
  • Fundraising activities.
  • The performance of cultural drumming, singing and dancing on various occasions.
  • The creation of friendly and collaborative relationships with other associations with similar objectives.

Over the years, CATO has achieved multiple accomplishments both in Canada and in Togo. More recently, CATO has brought financial support to many impoverished students to help them through high school and their first year of university. This was done thanks to contributions from members of the association.

Membership is open to anyone interested, regardless of social status, ethnicity, religion, or racial background. Meetings are held on the last Sunday of the month from March to November. Currently, they take place at the Driftwood Community Centre located at 4401 Jane Street in North York.

We organize various activities throughout the year, including a summer picnic and an end-of-year party. For more details about our association, please visit www.catog.ca.
