Our Program
Capacity Building & Professional Development
ACSDC is committed to strengthening Black-led, Black-focused, and Black-serving organizations through capacity-building initiatives that support organizational growth, sustainability, and long-term community impact.
Our Capacity Building & Professional Development Program provides community organizations, leaders, and staff with practical tools, training, and resources to strengthen operations, improve service delivery, and build resilient organizations that effectively serve African, Caribbean, and Black communities.
Through workshops, collaborative learning, mentorship, and networking opportunities, participants gain valuable skills and knowledge to enhance organizational effectiveness and respond to emerging community needs.
Program Areas
Grant Writing & Funding Readiness
We support organizations in accessing and managing funding opportunities through:
- Monthly grant writing and proposal development workshops
- Early updates on grants and funding opportunities through our monthly newsletter
- Guidance on developing strong and competitive funding applications
- Access to proposal templates, shared resources, and organizational toolkits
These sessions help organizations strengthen fundraising capacity and improve funding readiness.
Professional Development & Training
Our training opportunities focus on leadership, equity, and organizational development, including:
- Anti-Black racism and equity workshops
- Governance and leadership development training
- Strategic planning and organizational development support
- Community engagement and outreach training
Workshops are designed to provide practical, hands-on learning that organizations can apply directly within their work.
Networking & Collaboration
Membership with ACSDC connects organizations to a broad network of Black-led and Black-serving agencies and community partners. Participants benefit from:
- Partnership opportunities for community initiatives and events
- Networking meetings and knowledge-sharing forums
- Access to collaborative working groups and sector connections
- Supporting letters for active member agencies
These opportunities promote collaboration, shared learning, and collective community impact.
Visibility & Outreach Support
To help organizations increase visibility and engagement, ACSDC provides:
- Promotion through newsletters, directories, websites, and social media
- Event visibility and outreach support
- Inclusion in community publications and sector updates
- Opportunities to participate in ACSDC-led events and campaigns
